Depending on when you first started showing an interest in astronomy will depend on how long you have been an astronomer. Whilst some people may have been into astronomy since they were a kid, others may have been in their teens or even older before they got into astronomy.

How long have you been an astronomer?

Have had an interest since I was in my early teens, but never had the money to pursue it. Then once I "grew up" was more concerned with providing for our kids. Once I retired, I was able to finally start getting back into it. Purchased a LOT of equipment about 5 years ago, but never could get the camera to work with it (Nikon D7200), but that was more from my being unfamiliar with what was needed. Finally decided a 4 years later after purchasing the equipment and it simply sitting in the spare room to get back into using it and grabbed an actual astrophotography camera, which I found was easier to use.

It is so awesome that you have had an interest since your early teens. I myself have had an interest since I was in my early 20s but with family and other things in life, I found that I never had the time to be able to dedicate to it as much as I would have liked to.

I instead followed others who love astronomy and if there have ever been chances for me to head out and look up into the sky to see something after finding out something may be visible I do that as well if I have the time to :)
