When sky-watching, sometimes you will see a lot of what you were hoping to see and you will also more than likely be able to catch some great shots of what you see as well but there may be times when you will catch something you did not expect to see and that may be unusual as well.

Have you been able to see anything unusual that you were not expecting to see when you were sky-watching?

One of the beauties of sitting out with your equipment during the dark is you can see "neat stuff". I've observed several bolides and you have the ever-present "shooting stars" during the night. One of the bolides was bright enough to make it appear like there was a full moon (it was a new moon period).
Of course, you also can see every now and then the bane of the amateur astronomer.... the Starlink satellite clusters.
Back when the NASA shuttles were flying, we were out on the lake early one morning enjoying the stars right before sunrise when we saw a plasma trail coming towards us... was the shuttle passing over going in to land in Florida... same flight path that the the Columbia was flying when it exploded over us (yes, saw that also and had a large piece land in the middle of the highway right up the road from us).

Many trips around the sun ago during first light of a 10" dob, I was looking at the moon when I saw a black, round object the size of a BB cross the surface of the moon. I ran inside and looked up if anyone had posted something similar on YouTube and sure enough someone had. Still don't know what it was but it sure wasn't a bird or bug.

That is awesome and must have been amazing to experience. I am always keeping up with as much as I can myself so that I can try and catch glimpses of certain things when they happen but I live in England, UK and unfortunately a lot of the time it ends up being cloudy so we tend to miss out which is a shame.

Very interesting. I often hear about people that have seen things in the sky and others who have also seen them but can not explain what it was and it never looked like anything they had seen before.

It often goes without being solved but it does make you wonder what may be in the sky that we can not explain.
