First we will address the actual entering of a post on the site.
When you go to create a post in some areas, you will see this

The area in yellow are specific types of posts you can make by selecting the option.
You have a standard discussion post, which most are familiar with.
Then you have the option of creating a poll.
The third option is a Question type post that allows you the best answer to be marked.

The area highlighted in green allows for the use of 'Prefixes', which you will find when entering data (posts, Classifieds, Resources, Media and Showcase) throughout the site. We actively encourage you to use these as they help located topics better.

This is an example of the Telescope area.

Another feature we offer is the ability for each user to 'Bookmark" a location of the site to a list that they can refer to later.
You find this by clicking on the your name in the top right and your profile display will open.
You can then select Bookmarks and review your bookmarks you have created (can be done for a post, Showcase item, Media item, Resource item, Classifieds item (but they will disappear from view when expired) and Article item.

To create a bookmark, simply look for the bookmark icon (the item shown in red - but will normally be white) on the page/item.

Another function is the ability to filter each forum area to only view specific prefixes.

Once you select the prefix, you can further refine the filtering by using dates and specific users

As you type the username, the system will search for similar names and a list will appear. You can select the user from that list, made easy if they have a custom avatar.
Another feature of the software... in the forum areas index you will see that many topics will have what is referred to as a prefix beside them.
If you only want to see all posts related to that prefix... simply click on the prefix and in that area it will filter to only show those topics. This is one of the reasons I encourage the use of the prefixes.

I click on the Deep Skey prefix and I get this

You can also do more detailed filtering by choosing the filter option in the upper right hand corner of the index list.

As an added benefit... we have added the ability in the forum areas to actually see the available prefixes, and filter by them in certain areas.

This is not used throughout the site, only in areas where prefixes are heavily used. For the other areas, you can use the Filter option to filter through the available prefixes in use.
