There is currently a known issue with Windows and the use of Windows Defender (and possibly other anti-virus software packages.
Windows Defender can detect the PI
All PixInsight users on Windows using Windows Defender must do the following in order to use PixInsight 1.8.9-2:

files as potentially dangerous. This is easy enough to work around (for Windows Defender) by setting up exclusions for the xisf/xpsm/ xdrz/xnml
file extensions in Windows Defender (and possibly other antivirus programs).All PixInsight users on Windows using Windows Defender must do the following in order to use PixInsight 1.8.9-2:
- Open Start Menu
- Windows Security
- Virus & Threat Protection
- Under Virus and threat protection settings, click Manage settings
- Under Exclusions (bottom of page), click Add or remove exclusions
- Accept the UAC dialog.
- Click the Add an exclusion button
- Select File type from the drop down menu
- Type xisf in the Enter extension box
- Click Add
- Repeat for each listed extension
