It's fairly simple.
Media is where you can upload images (planetary, deep sky and other celestial bodies) that you have taken with your telescopes (or link to images that are hosted with an outside provider like ImgUr). In the Media section is a "How To" area that is for videos by our users that are posted on YouTube.
The Showcase is just that... it's an area that you can showcase your hardware or any other related equipment.
