with a modern DLSR if you are going to go to the point of modifying it for DSO captures with filters? Is it as reasonable (if not more-so) to actually go to a dedicated cooled camera to get modern technology when comparing a modified DSLR to a dedicated astrophotography camera?
When you take into consideration the cost of a modern DSLR (mirrorless or otherwise) using recent chipsets, would you not be better served by getting an actual camera dedicated for astrophotography? Once you modify the DSLR, it's pretty much useless for every day terrestrial use. Why exactly would one prefer (other than being able to get older tech) a DSLR over current astro cameras?
